toxic overload

Are You Suffering From Toxic Overload?

Tags :

When I used to work in the police I worked long hours but wanted to stay as fresh as a daisy all day so I used to use a certain perfume everyday. To keep the scent for an 11 hour shift I would layer it using shower gel, body lotion and perfume.  I would leave the house smelling like an angel.After a while my skin would itch and I had bumps all over my arms and if I went out in the sun it would become worse.  The itching would sometimes be so bad I wished that someone would just cut them off.

I have suffered with this in the past but just thought I was some kind of vampire and should stay out of the sun and only venture out under the cover of darkness.

I explained this to a friend who informed me I was probably suffering from toxic overload!  My perfume was full of chemicals and I was absorbing this into my body everyday and my poor liver could not cope.  OK now I am listening!  As a empath too I was even more sensitive to the toxins that we are subjected to everyday.

Imagine if you were also suffering from emotional stress (which I was from my work) and then just overloading your body with toxins from food, beauty products and the air we breathe.  You would be feeling pretty crap, right!

This is what I found to be in most beauty products we use everyday.  Look out for these in the ingredients, If you see any, please think carefully about using them.

Synthetic Parabens
Used as preservatives in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Look out for Butyl, Propyl and Ethyl Parabens or Benzylparaben, Isobutylparaben or Methylparaben.  Causes premature aging to skin and have a carcinogenic and comedogenic effect.

High levels can cause infertility.  Used as a plasticiser and European Commission is looking to ban its use in cosmetic industry.

Mineral Oil
Commonly used in baby lotions, cold creams and cosmetics.  Coats skin like a plastic interfering with skins ability to eliminate toxins and can result in premature ageing.

Propylene Glycol
From petro-chemicals, used as a moisturiser and as a carrier in fragrance oils which can cause a sensitising affect on the skin.

Para-Aminobenzoic Acid used in sunscreens.  Can cause sensitivity and allergic reactions.

This can promote acne and other disorders due to clogging of pores and interferes with skins PH balance.

Also known as Kerosene and is used in cosmetics as a moisturiser or emollient.  More commonly used in jet propulsion this is an irritant to skin and eyes.

Diethanolamine (DEA)
Used in nail polish, lipstick, shampoo and conditioner.  Can irritate skin, eyes and hair follicles.

Symptoms of Toxic Overload to watch out for
Overweight; inability to lose weight;
High cholesterol;
High blood pressure;
Frequent headaches or migraines;
Skin blemishes, discolorations, warts and moles;
Acne, psoriasis, eczema; oily skin; rashes;
Upper and lower excessive gas;
Poor or inadequate digestion, heartburn, acid reflux; bloating after eating;
Bad breath;
Coated tongue when going without food for half or full day;
Constipation; diarrhea; Irritable Bowel Syndrome;
Allergies to foods and chemicals; environmental sensitivity; chemical intolerance;
Sugar cravings;
Excessive alcohol intake;
Diminished eyesight;
Frequent or continued fatigue;
Hormonal imbalance; low sex drive, impotence;
Sluggish metabolism;
Sleep disorders; insomnia;
Excessive body heat;
Poor protein utilization;
Depression, unpleasant moods, mood swings, behavior swings or bi-polar disorder; anger;
Liver cancer;
Gall stones; gallbladder problems;
Fatty liver;
Low immune response; overburdened immune system;
Recurring colds, fevers and mucus;
Poor memory;
Mental fatigue;
Pre-mature aging;
Pre-mature greying of hair;

I now check what is in my beauty products and avoid using perfumes on my skin. I only use natural products and  I also help my clients eliminate toxins from all areas of their life. I recommend a range of toxin, chemical and cruelty free products and also use kinesiology to test which chemicals are affecting my clients well being.  If you would like to know more sign up for one of my free sessions to chat about this here

empath and narcissist

The Narcissist And The Empath

Tags :

I speak with a lot of empaths, sensitives and lightworkers during the course of my work and there is one thing that has stood out for me from these conversations. Empaths attract narcissists. I know as I have met my fair share in my time, but what I have learnt is how to deal with them and what they are all about.

So why do empaths attract narcissists? Well the empath is a healer and takes on the pain of others. They want to fix people and make everything right for them. The narcissist is generally wounded in some way and hence the attraction between the healer and the wounded. The narcissist is a master manipulator and will do whatever it takes to get everything their own way. The empath just cannot understand how people can act in a bad way towards others because they can feel what the other person would feel but they need to realise that other people are not like them. This took me a while to get my head around as I would often think to myself “how could he do this to me” when dealing with my narcissist in the past.

I learnt to think like a narcissist and play mind games. You have to be one step ahead and think “what would I do if I was a manipulative and nasty so and so”. You need to think what their next move might be so you can stop it before it happens. The narcissist wants to keep the empath as low as possible so that they can feel superior – they need external validation, so watching you suffer is actually enjoyable for them.

If you are in a relationship with a narcissist and you are waiting for things to get better and for them to change, they won’t. The relationship just gets more and more destructive, mine became so destructive that police finally became involved. I think it is incredibly important for empaths to learn about the traits of narcissists so that they can learn to spot one quickly before getting too emotionally involved.

Having spent a number of years living with a narcissist and working for the police where I dealt with narcissistic personalities every day my radar is on and I can see through the facade so that I never make the same mistake again. Usually as empaths we get an intuitive feeling about someone but we often do not trust that first feeling. My advice is develop your intuitive muscle so that you never have to go through the pain of a narcissistic relationship.

Tools To Empower Your Life

Tags :

If your life is spiralling out of control and you need to get back on track these are the tools that I use.  Getting them into your daily practice will help you live your life on your terms and help you deal with stress and overcome obstacles with ease.  You will also raise your vibration and attract more abundance into your life.  If you want a sense of calm, to gain clarity and step into your power then just add these simple tools into your day and you will soon notice the changes in you. The techniques really do not take long at all and once you get into the habit of doing them, they will become second nature.

1. Morning Pages

This is something that I was taught to do by my mentor.  It comes from the book The Artists Way by Julia Cameron.  Firstly get yourself a beautiful journal to write in.  You will need it for this and another tool that I will share with you.  As soon as you wake in the morning write three full pages in your journal.  Just write anything and everything that crosses your mind. Don’t think, just write.  Do this every morning and you will start to find messages in your writing, you will get clarity and your day will be more productive.  Every so often go over what you have written and you will surprise yourself.  This is like doing a brain dump and getting everything out.  Just try it, I am sure you will love it.

2. Meditation

Each morning when I am still in bed I do a short meditation.  Meditation is great for reducing stress, aiding concentration, increasing self awareness, makes you happy, benefits cardiovascular and immune health and helps you focus among many other amazing benefits. There are many guided meditations on the market or you could simply listen to a relaxing CD for 10 minutes.  I try and meditate in the morning and in the evening as well.  It really does not have to take up much time.  The benefits of meditation are amazing. I have a morning and evening meditation available to purchase here

3. Protection

In the morning while doing my meditation I have a protection ritual which I do to set me up for the day.  As we go about our business during the day, we can pick up energies from other people, especially if we are sensitive.  If you find that you are exhausted after meeting with certain people and at the end of the day you could be picking up unwanted energies.  To stop this happening I imagine gold light coming in from the top of my head and filling my aura with gold energy.  I see it like a bubble around me and I ask that only loving energy can enter my energy fields and anything unwanted be repelled.

4. Chakra Cleanse

This is also something I do in my morning meditation.  You can use a meditation CD or you can visualise this yourself. Essentially you want to visualise each of your chakras being cleansed and spinning perfectly.  Chakra health is very important, imbalances can lead to problems in your life. For example, issues in your root chakra can block your flow of money! There are 7 major chakras, the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, third eye and crown.    The chakras represent the seven centres of spiritual power in the body.

5. Positive Mental Attitude

This is crucial if you want to gain control of your life.  What you think, you will attract.  End of.  If you wake up thinking to day is going to be a bad day, then guess what, today will be a bad day. You will only attract into your life what you are thinking about.  Your thoughts are powerful. Don’t misuse them.  If you think positive outcomes then by the universal law of attraction this is what you will have.  So when you wake up, think wow what a great day I am going to have today!

6. Crystals

Crystals are my secret weapon.  I love crystals and have thousands of them – I am not exaggerating either.  My favourites for everyday use are amethyst and rose quartz.  You can carry them around with you, put them on your desk at work, put them in a room to raise the energy.  Rose quartz is a beautiful crystal to place in a room for creating harmony.  It is also the love crystal so one to carry or wear if you are looking for a new relationship. Try amethyst under your pillow if you have bad dreams.

7. Essential Oils

I use essential oils everyday.  My top three are lavender, peppermint and lemon.  I use lavender in my bath with some epsom salts for a cleansing bath and also a drop on my pillow to aid my sleep.  If I have a headache I put a drop of peppermint on my temples (don’t get it near your eyes) and it clears it up.  I use a drop of lemon as a cleansing drink in the morning (be sure to get Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Oils only – email me if you want to know where to get these from).

8. Cord Cutting

At the end of each day I do a cord cutting ritual to cut any negative cords from other people that may have attached to me during the day.  People do not know that they are doing this but if you are sensitive, others sense that positive energy and want some of it and a cord can become attached to you.  This is one reason you need to protect yourself every morning but sometimes these cords build up and can leave you feeling sluggish and tired.  This is especially important if you are a healer, tarot reader or therapist.  People like being in your energy, you make them feel good and a cord is attached.  You could even pick up a cord from a person you smile at in the street. To get rid of cords I normally ask Archangel Michael to cut any cords that are draining my energy and I visualise him cutting them with his sword.  I then fill the gaps where the cords have been with white light.

If you need help with any of the things that I have discussed you can book a free session to talk about your needs.

lessons from my dog

What I Learnt From My Dog About Life

Tags :

I sat looking at my dog the other day and it got me wondering. He loves his life, he doesn’t have a care in the world, he does what he wants all day and everything he needs is provided for. So I thought well how could I be more dog? How could I live a happy life with no worries what so ever.

Firstly dogs live in the present. They do not worry about what is going to happen in the future. Or when will they be fed, they do not worry about what might happen if they meet a dog they don’t like on their walk. They do not think about bad things that have happened in the past. They live in the now. As humans we are always thinking about the past or worrying about the future. Just think how peaceful life would be if we lived in the now.

The second thing I realised about my dog is everything he needs is provided for. By me of course but if I could adopt this attitude then the universe could provide for me in the same way. You have heard of the law of attraction, well this is it. The thing is to attract what you want you need to be in the right vibration and if you are worrying about the past or future you will not be in the right vibrational energy. So another reason to live in the now.

Lastly he is grateful for everything. When I come back with treats in the shopping, he wags his tail in delight and happiness. When I give him his dinner he looks at me with appreciation. His excitement about walkies. Gratitude is another key piece in the law of attraction game. Be grateful for everything, write what you are grateful for in your journal. If you do this everyday you will soon notice how your life flows much more easily. Your luck shifts and you attract the things into your life that you want.

So my dog has taught me to be present, open to the possibilities and be grateful for everything that I have. Isn’t it time you became a little more dog?

What Are Your Aches And Pains Telling You About Your Life?

Tags :

Do you ever wonder if your body is trying to tell you something? I remember picking up a book about 6 years ago written by Louise L Hay called Heal Your Body. She has catalogued a list of ailments and problems along with the probable cause and a new thought pattern to embrace to heal it.  It makes a lot of sense to me that what we think can directly affect our body. If we believe something on an unconscious level then it has to manifest on a physical level.

If for example you hold a deep seated belief that to earn money you have to work hard, then this will be your truth. You will have to work hard, money won’t flow easily, you will have to put in the hours because your unconscious mind will create the experiences that support this belief.

In Louise Hay’s book she says that dis-ease is the result of our mental thought patterns. We can have good thoughts that will create good experiences and also negative thoughts that create the illnesses. Her book all came flooding back to me this week when I developed an annoying pain in my bottom.  I remember the last time I had a pain in this area, I was unhappy in certain aspects of my life but was not getting off my butt to take any action.

I looked up this area in Louise Hay’s book and this is what I found.  Anger in relation to what you don’t want to release. This I can totally relate to.  Both times I have had this issue I have been angry. Now I can work on that to release it and hopefully my pain in the butt will disappear.

So I looked up some more of my ailments:

Lower back pain – fear of money, lack of financial support – Yep.

Having trouble with near vision – fear of the present – Yep.

Dizziness – Flighty, scattered thinking – Yep, I am all over the place at the moment.

So now I have identified these I can work on the mental thoughts I am having and reframe them to positive thoughts and hopefully recover from my ailments.

If you are having aches, pains or illnesses it may be time to look at the work of Louise Hay.

What Is An Empath?

Tags :

Have you ever wondered what an empath is and if in fact you are one?

You have probably heard the term banded about in spiritual circles along with sensitive, lightworker and earth angel. An empath can be all of those things too.

Being an empath means that you can pick up on other peoples energy and emotions and take it on as your own.  An empath can literally soak up another persons emotions and really feel what they are going through. They pick up on the energies of places and situations and can become overwhelmed in crowds.

Empaths have the ability to see through the bullshit and know where people are really coming from. They can tell if you are lying or being deceitful.

They often find people approaching them and telling them all of their most personal problems, it is like they recognise the empaths ability to listen. An empath would must rather listen to someone elses woes than open up themselves. They can appear quiet but underneath that is a person who wants to succeed in life but they do put others first, often neglecting their own needs. They can be found working with people, animals, nature with a passion for helping others.

You won’t find them watching that much TV or news as they detest violence and cruelty. They tend to be peacemakers always wanting to find that happy medium in any situation.

If they do not look after their energy they can burn out emotionally and energetically. This happened to me twice. I spent too much time ignoring my own need for downtime and R&R.

People, animals and children are naturally drawn to an empath, and feel immediately comfortable in their presence. Empaths can pick up aches and pains from other people and believe that it is their own when in fact it belongs to someone else.

It is so important that an empath has a good self care regime and gets enough quiet time, they need that solitude.

If you are an empath you will resonate with the majority of points below.

  1. Hate being in crowded places.
  2. Know things without being told, excellent intuition
  3. Feel the emotions of others, know when someone is thinking something bad about them
  4. Does not like watching or reading about violence
  5. Picks up others illnesses
  6. Can detect a liar easily
  7. Prone to lower back and digestive issues
  8. Helps those in need
  9. Complete strangers offload problems to them
  10. Love to be creative
  11. Loves nature
  12. Needs to be alone at times, can seem a little aloof, moody
  13. Unable to do what does not feel right for them, unlikely to do a job that they do not believe in
  14. Inquisitive and seeks personal development
  15. Daydreamer
  16. Clutter can freak them out
  17. Does not like to be controlled and follow the rules
  18. Fantastic listener
  19. Does not get on well with narcissists although attracts them easily
  20. Do not like to buy antiques or second hand items, likes things new
  21. Many are vegetarian or vegan as can feel the energy of food, especially meat

If you think you are an empath and would like to learn more about how you need to look after yourself, I will be happy to help you (yes I am an empath!)

Is Your Past Making You Overweight?

If you are one of those people that has tried every diet out there but never been able to get to your ideal weight, have you considered your emotional pain could be responsible for your weight gain?

Every extra pound of weight equates to a pound of emotional pain that you are carrying in your heart and soul.

Emotional pain triggers us to overeat and use food as a way to dull the pain.

How do you know that your hunger is emotional?

Here are some clues.

1.  The hunger comes on suddenly.  One minute you are not thinking about food, the next you are starving.
2.  You crave a certain food and no substitute will do.  It could be chocolate, pastries, spicy food, dairy or high fat foods.
3.  The hunger is above your neck – you can almost taste that cake in your mouth and your mind is buzzing with thoughts of the food.
4. The hunger is urgent – you want food and you want it NOW.
5.  It is paired with a negative emotion – you got told off at work for example or got a rejection letter for a job.
6.  You eat as if hypnotised.  Its an automatic response – you keep on tucking in to the ice cream and before you know it the whole tub is gone.
7.  The hunger does not go even when you are full.
8.  You feel guilty afterwards – you say to yourself – tomorrow I will exercise for example.

How can you reduce emotional hunger?

1.  Make a conscious decision not to eat for 15 minutes.
2. Leave the house or throw away the desired food so you cannot have it.
3. Brush your teeth or drink a glass of water.
4. Listen to your body and determine whether this is a negative emotion you are feeling.
5. Replace the negative emotion with a positive one – do something nice for yourself.

This is from Doreen Virtues book – Constant Craving.

Taking Back Control of Your Life

When things are not going your way in life you essentially have two
options.  Give up or fight back.  We have all been through difficult
times in our lives.  Times where you have just had enough, things
could not get any worse.  Things keep going wrong, back luck hits us.
Job losses, relationship break downs, the death of a loved one. Here
are my top tips for getting your life back on track.

Take Responsibility
This really is the most important thing.  Don’t look for someone else
to blame.  Take charge and ownership of the problem.  Perhaps the
situation is a learning point for your soul.  You are living a human
life and that means experiencing life good and bad.  Maybe on some
level you have attracted the situation into your life through your own
limiting beliefs.  Beliefs you may have brought over from a past life
or your childhood.  This is not your fault and can be changed.  For me
I had a limiting belief that I was not good enough and so I attracted
into my life an abusive relationship to support that belief.  You see
how this works?  Thankfully I now have a loving and supportive partner
but for a long time I lived in fear of my life.
All too often we blame outside circumstances for our situation and
this is not taking responsibility.  True change can only occur once
you take ownership of your life.

Feel The Emotion
Don’t bottle up your emotions around the situation.  Feel it, express
it, talk about it safely to someone you trust.  Don’t go into victim
mode.  As a human it is normal to feel anger, hurt, guilt, sadness and
shame.  Holding on to emotions can make us ill.  Anger can lead to
heart problems, sadness can lead to depression and fear can lead to
excessive stress and phobias.  So don’t carry these emotions around
with you.  Acknowledge if you feel angry, shout and cry if you need to
but do it in a safe way.  Shouting at your boss is probably not a good
idea, even if they have really pushed all your buttons! Go outside,
count to 10, breathe deeply and if you still need to shout, go
somewhere private where you won’t be heard and let it all out.

Decide What You Want Instead
Write down what it is you actually want in your life instead of the
situation you find yourself in.  Let’s say you have split up with your
boyfriend and you feel like your world has fallen apart. He has
someone new so he is not coming back.  Write a list of attributes for
your perfect partner.  Be really specific here, and I mean specific. I
know of someone who did this to find her perfect job.  She found it
and it ticked all her boxes.  The problem was none of her co workers
liked her.  She was miserable in her perfect job so left quickly.
Silly as it sounds you really do have to be specific.

Vision It
So you have a list of what you want.  Each morning go through your
list for your perfect job, relationship, house, life, whatever it may
be.  Spend some time really focusing on it.  Try doing a vision board.
Use affirmations.  See it in your mind in detail. When you are
visioning it, imagine you have a dial and start turning up the
brightness, size, the sounds, imagine the smells.  See it as a picture
in front of you and step into it.  Really feel it.  Feels good doesn’t

Take Inspired Action
Starting taking small steps towards your goal.  You have to take
action.  The universe is not going to give you what you want if you
are not showing any commitment to it.  So if it is a new relationship
you are wanting and you have asked for a sporty man, try going to the
gym.  You need to go the places he might be hanging out.  He is not
going to be hanging about in your living room is he?  So get out
there. If you are wanting to start a new career, start looking at
courses that could help you get there, order a college prospectus.
You have to make an effort and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.  Listen to your
intuition and take that inspired action even if it seems silly.  You
are more intuitive than you know!

Own It
WALK THE TALK! Act like you have it already.  Your emotions need to be
in alignment with the state you want.  This is really important.  So
if you want a fabulous, relationship and be blissfully happy, you
can’t go around being sad and glum all day.  You have to act like you
are in this wonderful relationship already.  Feel the joy and
excitement of new love, the new job, the new house.  Smile from the
inside out.
By taking responsibility you can take control of your life and deal
with anything that life throws at you gracefully and easily.
